Our very chic Himiza two-tone bag is handmade from sisal with contrasting black leather handles and matching tab. Use as a striking handbag, for overnight trips or to transport your gym kit stylishly.

This beautiful bag is handwoven from sisal grass in Kenya’s Eastern Region. The lengthy process includes locally harvesting and hand-rolling the grass before dying the bottom of the Himiza khaki. This is done by heating sand in water over an outdoor fire.

Weaving takes place primarily during the dry seasons, since most weavers are subsistence farmers using basket weaving as a supplementary means of income. To buy one of our woven baskets is to support our commitment to empowering women through fair trade and to receive fair pay. Every basket comes with a thank you card from the weaving cooperative.

Each basket is Fair Trade, sustainable, natural, biodegradable and renewable. Wipe clean.
